South Coast Coffee Company was founded in 2002 by Count John and Countess Sylvia McCormack to provide the south of the country with the fine coffees and teas already enjoyed by those in the Dublin region thanks to Idee Coffee Ireland. In 2002, after the sale of their Dublin restaurant, QV2, John and Sylvia decided to move to Cork. Eamonn Mongey, MD of Idee Coffee Ireland, asked them to take his fine coffees to the south and so South Coast Coffee was born. John has extensive experience in the restaurant business – see his biog under Consultancy – and Sylvia is a trained colour consultant and has completed courses in colour psychology and all aspects of specialised paint finishes.
